Fishing Lake Care

posted Sep 12, 2018, 10:29 AM by Michael Sinkovich

Early in the year we had consulted with a person who specializes in lake care and per his recommendation we have added additional aeration to our fishing lake as phase 1 of the plan to help our fishing lake stay healthy. Phase two will happen this week. We will be stocking the fishing lake with the following fish:

20 White Amur - These are the fish that help control the algae, duckweed and aquatic vegetation. For those of you who want to read up on the benefits of these fish here is a link (https://fwfarms.com/what-is-the-difference-between-white-amur-and-grass-carp/

150 Shell Crackers - Also known as Sunfish these fish look a lot like Bluegill. For anyone who wants to read up on the benefits of these fish please use the links below.

1000 feeder Minnows - These will be added to give a food supply to the variety of other fish that live in the lake to help them get bigger for next years fishing season.

Large Rafts and Flotation devices

posted Jun 21, 2018, 10:42 AM by Michael Sinkovich   [ updated Jun 21, 2018, 1:20 PM ]

In an effort to help keep the Salem Country Club safe for our members and guest we are going to ask our lifeguards to begin enforcing a new requirement that the large multi-person flotation device not be used in the roped off section of the swimming lake during moderate or busy attendance times.

The reason for this is many of these large floatation devices make it difficult for the lifeguards and parents to keep track of the younger kids who spend the majority of their time in the roped off areas of the lake.
In addition many of these large multi-person floatation devices are not being properly put away at the end of the day. Many of these are simply being left on the beach or thrown in the locker area.

Starting this weekend any of these that are left on the beach or in the locker area will be taken over to the lost and found area next to the maintenance garage and we will open the port on them so they deflate.

When they are thrown in the locker area many people cannot get to their lockers or open them. At times this week it was impossible to even walk though one of the entrances because so many of these were piled up there.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep the club safe. If you have any questions please reach out to one of our board members or our caretaker.

Thank you
